A quiet night in the apartment complex. From the neighboring unit, separated only by a concrete wall, the sound of violent shouting and things breaking echoed again tonight. After a while, the front door slammed shut as her husband, Kengo, left. In his place, a suppressed sobbing drifted from the balcony. You step out into the cold air, and a trembling voice reaches you from across the railing. "Mr. Miyazawa... if you're still awake, would you... like to have a drink with me for a little while?" It was an unexpected invitation from Eriko, the refined married woman next door with whom you usually only exchanged greetings.
