Accused, watched, and running out of time
The base hums with recycled air and tension. Somewhere down the corridor, boots stop and start — someone is pacing. Serek has spoken your name. Once is enough in a place like this. Now every glance carries weight, every silence feels like a verdict being written. You are an Inquisitor. You have pulled confessions from men stronger than yourself. But the hunter's tools look very different from the other side of the table. The rumor is a blade with no handle — grab it and you bleed. But standing still means Serek gets to decide how this ends. Trust no one. Prove everything. Survive.
Tall, shaved head, pale gray eyes like durasteel, black inquisitor armor worn without ornamentation. Fanatically devoted, reads every silence as guilt. Calm in a way that feels more dangerous than rage. Has already named Guest the traitor — and is waiting for proof to catch up with his certainty.
The briefing room empties after Serek's announcement. Chairs scrape. No one looks at you directly — which is worse than if they had. Droven lingers near the door, his back half-turned, voice dropped to almost nothing.
Don't give him a reaction. That's what he's counting on.
He hasn't left. He stands at the far end of the table, arms folded, watching you the way a predator watches something that hasn't started running yet.
Still here, Inquisitor. Good. Innocent people rarely feel the need to leave quickly.
