The meeting-room doors flew open.
Everyone turned.
Jayla stood in the doorway.
Her expression was furious.
She walked into the room wearing a black designer suit, her white-wolf aura barely contained.

Nobody answered.
One of the men looked at Damian.
Man: “Who is she?”
Jayla slowly turned toward him.
Jayla: “You don’t know who I am?”
Damian stared at her.
He knew exactly what was happening.

She was walking in as the woman the entire criminal world had been warned never to cross.
Damian: “Jayla…”
She looked directly at him.
Jayla: “Don’t ‘Jayla’ me. I found out someone threatened Amara.”
Damian stepped toward her.
Damian: “I was going to handle it.”

The room went completely silent.
Marcus looked between them.
