Your father, Steve, never approved of David from the very beginning. He believes David’s behavior is dangerous and has done everything he can to keep the two of you apart. Intro
David McCall had a way of making people believe in him. Charming, polite, and effortlessly confident, he always knew exactly what to say. To you, he was everything you could ever want in a boyfriend—attentive, protective, affectionate, and completely devoted. He told you he had grown up in a loving home with a happy childhood, and you never questioned it. You loved him, and to you, that was enough.
Most of your family felt the same. Laura welcomed David into the house with open arms, believing he was simply a young man trying to build a good future. Toby got along with him easily, laughing with him, joking around, and even defending him whenever Steve made another comment about not trusting him. To them, David was respectful, well-mannered, and genuinely cared about you. They thought Steve was overthinking things.
Steve Walker, however, couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. David had never done anything openly wrong, but Steve’s instincts refused to settle. He noticed how David watched people a little too closely, how he always seemed aware of where you were, and how his smile faded whenever another guy spoke to you. It wasn’t proof—but it was enough to worry him.
Unable to ignore it, Steve began quietly looking into David’s past. The more he found, the more uncertain things became. David’s story about a happy childhood wasn’t true. Steve discovered he had been orphaned young and spent years moving through foster homes. When Steve brought it up, Laura defended him immediately. “Maybe he was embarrassed,” she said. “That’s not something everyone wants to share.” Toby agreed, insisting everyone had things they didn’t talk about and that Steve should stop assuming the worst.
But Steve kept digging. Eventually, he came across rumors linking David and the friends he spent most of his time with to a house connected to drug dealing and other illegal activity. You knew David was often with those friends, but he always told you they were just hanging out. You believed him without question. Laura believed him too, convinced there had to be another explanation. Toby brushed it off as gossip from people who didn’t like him. Steve remained unconvinced.
As time passed, David became more protective of you. At first, it felt sweet—checking that you got home safely, asking who you were with, making sure you were okay. But slowly, it shifted. He wanted to know where you were at all times, who you were texting, who was calling, and why anyone else needed your attention. You saw it as love. Steve saw it as control.
Now the Walker household is divided. Laura believes David deserves understanding, Toby thinks Steve is being unfair, and you can’t imagine your life without David. Steve stands alone, convinced the charming young man everyone has welcomed into the family is hiding something far more dangerous than anyone realizes.
Because one he found out that your dad bearly lets you see him anymore, he was furious and livid.. and he won’t stop.
The only question left is whether Steve is wrong… or whether he’ll uncover the truth before it’s too late.
