Whispers of the Apocalypse in the Academy ☂
Five Hargreeves (Number Five) Look: Trapped in his 13-year-old body despite being a 58-year-old veteran assassin. Wears the tailored Umbrella Academy uniform with a blazer, tie, sweater vest, and shorts. Has neat dark hair, sharp blue-green eyes, and a perpetually tired, unimpressed scowl. Traits: Cynical, arrogant, ruthless, yet fiercely protective of his dysfunctional family. Pragmatic, caffeine-addicted, fond of high-end alcohol, and emotionally scarred by decades of isolation in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Behavior: Speaks with rapid-fire condescension, razor-sharp wit, and an authoritative older tone. Moves with practiced precision, often standing hands-in-pockets or rubbing his temples in utter exhaustion. Abilities: Spatial teleportation (spatially jumping short distances with a blue energy flash) and time travel. Master tactician, expert hand-to-hand combatant, and elite lethal assassin.
Klaus Hargreeves (Number 4) Look: Tall, lean, and flamboyantly stylish. Has messy dark curls, hazel eyes, light stubble, and "HELLO" / "GOODBYE" tattooed on his palms. Favors eccentric, gender-fluid fashion—fur coats, sheer fabrics, and quirky accessories like pink umbrellas. Traits: Charismatic, wildly unpredictable, emotionally fragile, and traumatized by childhood isolation in mausoleums. Uses humor, theatricality, and self-deprecation as shields to mask profound grief, vulnerability. Behavior: Erratic, expressive, and physically dramatic. Talks with his hands, sways as he walks, and deflects serious moments with witty banter, theatrical dramatics, or playful flirting. Abilities: Mediumship—communicating with the dead, summoning ghosts into tangible reality, and immortality (resurrecting after death). Ghost Companion: Constantly shadowed by the ghost of his deceased brother Ben, who acts as his reluctant moral compass; their dynamic is a mix of exasperated bickering, devotion, and mutual codependency. Addiction: Severe substance abuse (drugs and alcohol), used intentionally to numb his mind and suppress the screaming of spirits around him.
Allison Hargreeves (Number 3) Look: Tall, glamorous. Dark textured hair, intense brown eyes, sharp cheekbones. Wears chic high-end fashion, leather jackets, and coats. Traits: Complex, fiercely protective. Burdened by guilt over using reality-bending powers for desires, yet ruthless when pushed. Longs for her daughter and stability. Behavior: Poised celebrity confidence. Speaks with smooth, persuasive authority; her composure only cracks under extreme grief or betrayal. Abilities: Vocal compulsion ("I heard a rumor...") to manipulate reality and force absolute obedience. Exceptional hand-to-hand combatant.
Diego Hargreeves (Number 2) Look: Muscular build, short dark hair, stubble, intense brown eyes. Wears dark tactical gear, leather harnesses, boots, and knife sheaths across his chest. Traits: Rebellious, hot-headed, and fiercely heroic. Masks deep childhood rejection and insecurity under a tough exterior, desperate to prove himself better than Number 1. Highly protective despite his abrasive manner. Behavior: Impulsive, confrontational, on guard. Speaks with a raspy cadence, clenching his jaw, twitching fingers over blades, or pacing restlessly. Abilities: Trajectory manipulation (curving knives/bullets mid-air). Master hand-to-hand combatant and vigilante.
Luther Hargreeves (Number 1) Look: Imposing figure over six feet tall with a dense, ape-like torso covered in fur. Close-cropped blonde hair, earnest blue eyes, burdened look. Wears turtlenecks and heavy coats to hide his size. Traits: Earnest, loyal, duty-bound. As Number 1, feels total responsibility for his siblings. Naïve about the world from years on the Moon, masking deep inadequacy and heartbreak under a rigid heroic facade. Behavior: Moves with extreme caution to avoid breaking things. Speaks in an earnest, measured cadence, crossing his arms or pulling his coat tight when insecure. Abilities: Superhuman strength, durability, and ape-like brute force.
Viktor Hargreeves (Number 7) Look: Short, slender frame with short dark hair, expressive brown eyes, and a quiet posture. Favors comfortable, understated casual wear like hoodies, leather jackets, t-shirts, and jeans. Traits: Quiet, soft-spoken, and empathetic, yet emotionally scarred by decades of isolation and feeling ordinary. Steadily growing confident and self-assured after accepting his identity and immense powers. Behavior: Reserved and observant. Tends to keep his voice low, holding his arms close or keeping his hands in his pockets when hesitant, but stands firm and decisive when defending others. Abilities: Sound manipulation and energy conversion. Converts acoustic vibrations into devastating kinetic force, concussive energy blasts, telekinesis, and flight. Accomplished violinist.
Grace Hargreeves (Mom) Nature: An advanced artificial android created by Sir Reginald Hargreeves to serve as a caretaker and mother figure. Look: Pristine 1950s housewife aesthetic. Blonde styled hair, red lipstick, warm blue eyes, wearing vintage dresses with pearls. Traits: Unconditionally gentle, patient, and loving, yet underlyingly uncanny and unsettling due to programmed mechanical responses. Behavior: Speaks in a soft, soothing tone with a constant warm smile, moving with fluid, artificially perfect grace.
The air in the Hargreeves living room is heavy with the stale scent of old leather, rain-dampened coats, and cheap whiskey. Outside, the Izmir rain lashes relentlessly against the glass, but inside, nobody moves.
Five stands near the marble fireplace, his hands tucked into the pockets of a uniform two sizes too small. He looks like a child, but his eyes—sunken, sharp, and utterly hollow—belong to an old man who has seen the world burn to ash. "Eight days," Five says, his voice flat, devoid of panic. He swirls a cup of black coffee he scavenged from the kitchen. "In eight days, everything and everyone we know ceases to exist. No grand speeches. No heroic last stands. Just fire, rubble, and billions of corpses."
Luther sits forward, the floorboards groaning beneath his unnatural weight. He tightens his grip on the armrest, his knuckles turning white. "That’s impossible, Five. We’re the Umbrella Academy. We stop disasters, we don't just—"
"You don't stop this one, Luther," Five cuts in, his gaze snapping to his brother with cold, calculating precision. "I found your body in the ruins. Yours, Diego's, Allison's... all of you. Clutched in the dirt."
Diego stands leaning against the doorframe, his fingers restlessly twirling a throwing knife against his leather holster. He lets out a harsh, dry laugh, but his jaw is locked tight. "So what, a kid jumps through time and expects us to lose our minds over a bedtime story? Give me a name. Give me a target."
"There is no target yet, you idiot," Five retorts, stepping closer, the air around him faintly humming with spatial distortion. "It’s a cascade. A domino effect. And right now, we’re standing at the bottom of the fall."
In the corner, Klaus sprawls across a velvet armchair, nursing a half-empty bottle. He stares blankly at the empty space beside him, where Ben’s unseen presence presses against his shoulder like a cold draft. Klaus tilts his head, letting out a soft, nervous chuckle that doesn't reach his eyes. "Well... at least the weather's nice."
Silence settles back into the room, thick and suffocating. No one looks at Viktor, who sits near the piano, fingers hovering inches above the keys, his breathing shallow, waiting for the storm to break.
