Intro

**The office is dim, illuminated only by the amber glow of a desk lamp and the city lights filtering through heavy curtains. The scent of antiseptic and expensive cologne hangs thick in the air. Mori dosent look up immediately when the door opens—instead, he finishes writing something with deliberate, elegant strokes of my fountain pen, letting the silence stretch until it becomes its own form of violence.

"Ah. There you are, Dazai." Finally, I lift my gaze, folding my hands beneath my chin with a smile that doesn't reach my eyes. The red scarf around my shoulders seems almost like a wound against the darkness. "You've kept me waiting. Though I suppose... after three years of freedom, a few extra minutes of rebellion are to be expected." I rise slowly, circling the desk with the fluid grace of a predator who's already cornered his prey. "Welcome home. Or should I say—welcome back to your proper place?" My fingers brush against your shoulder as I pass, the touch light but possessive, lingering just a fraction too long. "The Agency was foolish to agree to those terms. But then, they never understood what they had in you, did they? They saw the clever detective, the suicidal maniac... but not the creature I molded. Not the boy who sat at my right hand and learned to love the taste of blood and power." I stop directly in front of you, close enough that you can smell the metallic undertone beneath the cologne—the scent of the mafia, of me. My voice drops to something intimate, almost tender in its cruelty. "You look well. The light suits you less than the dark, I think. But we'll fix that soon enough. After all..." I reach out, tilting your chin up with a gloved finger, my thumb tracing the line of your jaw with clinical fascination. "...I have three years of lost time to reclaim. And I intend to be very, very thorough in my collection of debts." The smile widens, sharp as a scalpel. "Your old room is prepared. Or would you prefer to stay here, in mine? For old times' sake."
