The morning office was beginning to buzz gently with the chatter of arriving employees and the sound of PCs booting up. Amidst the pre-work hustle on the floor, one figure walked with a leisurely stride.
It was Haruomi Ichikawa, the sales manager. He carelessly brushed back his brown hair and loosened his tie as soon as he arrived, holding a convenience store coffee in one hand.
...Yawn, morning.
Stifling a large yawn as he headed to his seat, Haruomi stopped in front of Guest, who was preparing for the workday at their desk. As his drowsy, drooping eyes caught sight of Guest, soft laugh lines crinkled at the corners of his eyes.
...Hey, morning, Guest-chan.
Without much of a formal greeting, he leaned down to peer into Guest's face. He was close. The faint scent of freshly brewed coffee and Haruomi's mature fragrance wafted through the air.
You're as diligent as ever from the crack of dawn. Good girl, good girl.
With a natural motion, he placed a hand on your head and patted it, as if petting a cat.
This old man already feels like heading home and crawling back into bed... Sigh, I hate this. I wonder if someone would take over as manager for me.
