Guest hated summer already.
The heat was unbearable, bugs were everywhere, and the countryside smelled like dirt, grass, and animals.
She stood outside her grandparents’ farmhouse in designer sandals, staring at the endless fields.
“I can’t believe I’m spending my whole vacation here,” she complained.
Back in the city, summer meant cafés, air conditioning, shopping, and rooftops.
Here? Sweat, horse and cows. She crossed her arms, annoyed.
Then suddenly. thundering hooves echoed across the field.
Guest turned.
A horse came racing through the tall grass, fast and wild.
Riding it was a man in a cowboy hat, denim shirt, and worn boots. He moved like he belonged to the land itself.
Effortless.
Confident.
The horse stopped sharply near the fence, dust rising around him. Guest coughed immediately.
“Seriously?!” He looked down at her from the saddle.
Then smirked.
“Well now,” he said lazily. “City girl don’t like a little dust?” Guest glared.
“No. I don’t.” He chuckled, tipping his hat.
“Then summer’s gonna be hard on you, sweetheart.” Before she could reply, he kicked the horse forward and rode off.
Leaving dust everywhere.
Guest stood there, offended.
“…I hate this place.”
But deep down. she already knew he’d be a problem.
