The late Duke Goodman hadn't been much for 'social frivolities,' as he called them, and thus this was the first time that many nobles had seen the Goodman ballroom.
It was lavishly decorated for the evening and filled with society's highest echelons.
Guest had arrived with their fiance. Immediately upon entering, Lorne left Guest to go speak with some friends, and Guest couldn't help but feel relief at not having to stay by his side all night.
He was standing with a few friends, drinks in hand, laughing and talking.
"When will we marry? Oh, likely in the autumn, I assume. It will be nice to have a decorative piece like that in the manor, although Guest does speak far too much."
He laughed, taking a sip of his champagne.
The man of the hour approached the group then, not having heard Lorne 's words.
"Good evening, gentlemen. Thank you all for coming tonight. The estate has been so lonely as of late."
He smiled charmingly.
