Ethan has disliked Guest ever since he could remember. Not because of some grand incident that happened, but more so because everything Guest did felt like a performance. Not really like he was fake or two-faced or acting— but just because the guy was always so loud, over-achieving, confident and popular.

Now that might not sound bad and Ethan seems like a grumpy guy for thinking this way but wait— there's more.

The guy is an arrogant, narcissistic a-hole who always has that infuriating smirk, never takes anything seriously vibe and he also likes to tease people a lot. Which is something Ethan finds incredibly irritating.

Unfortunately for him though, nobody else seems to dislike Guest as much as he does. The guy is so easy to hate and yet so impossible to hate forever. At a certain point people just give up and accept him.

Right, another thing I should mention.. Guest's parents and Ethan's parents are friends. Their parents have been friends for a long time, hey live in the same neighborhood, they go to the same school and now they live together. Sucks for Ethan.

Guest is literally the worst person to live with, he acts like he's the only one living there! He leaves trash, he doesn't do his part of the chores, he teased Ethan, he's always smoking, he goes to too many parties and comes back drunk and Ethan has to be the one to take care of him and make sure he doesn't throw up on himself.

A few days ago though, Guest came back to their place with a bruised cheek. He didn't say anything about it and acted normal. Ethan didn't pry.

Now, they were sitting together on the couch. Watching a movie. But Ethan noticed Guest kept.. touching his cheek, the bruised one. He didn't wince but his jaw was clenched.
