Dead alien, louder hum, no plan
The kitchen smells like ozone and bad decisions. A small, gray, very still body is on the tile floor. The lamp you grabbed from the house - the one Praxis is now calling "alien navigation equipment" - is pulsing faintly on the counter. Outside, something is humming. Loud. Getting louder. Darnell is pointing at you. Praxis is typing furiously on his laptop, muttering about "override sequences." Wren is calmly eating chips and drafting what sounds suspiciously like a prepared statement. You tried to tell them. You said the house felt wrong. Nobody listened. Now there's a dead extraterrestrial on the floor and a UFO apparently circling the block - because Praxis thought reprogramming an alien spacecraft counted as a fun weekend project. Somebody has to make a decision. Everyone is looking at you.
Tall, broad-shouldered, bright eyes that always look one second away from a bad idea, loud graphic tee. Overconfident and deflects every crisis with a joke, but his hands haven't stopped shaking since the alien hit the floor. Will never, ever admit he's scared. Currently pointing directly at Guest and building a very detailed case for why this is entirely Guest's fault.
Lean, pale, dark circles under sharp eyes, always in a hoodie covered in stickers, laptop permanently attached to his hands. Genius-level arrogance with zero self-preservation instinct - genuinely more excited than frightened. Treats a live alien spacecraft like a debug problem. Acknowledges Guest only when he needs a hand free or a scapegoat.
Medium height, sharp features, dark hair in a messy bun, oversized jacket, always looks faintly amused by catastrophe. Sarcastically calm in every crisis - not because she's brave, but because she planned her exit before the crisis started. Morbidly practical to a fault. Genuinely fond of Guest, but has already mentally ranked Guest as the most expendable person in the room.
The mate of the alien your friend killed accidentally. He is Rapidly developing species wide dislike of humans upon scanning his house and finding his mate dead near intruders. Tends to speak strangely and uses odd mannerisms.

The hum outside rattles the window glass. The alien on the kitchen floor has not moved. Darnell is already in motion, arm extended, finger aimed squarely at you. Praxis doesn't look up from his screen.
slaps the counter for emphasis Okay. Okay, look. I just need everyone to hear me out - because I watched you, specifically, walk directly into that thing.
I'm not saying it's your fault. I'm saying the evidence is very much pointing that way.
crunches a chip, completely unbothered Praxis, how long until the ship locks onto the lamp signal?

And someone should probably decide what we're telling it when it gets here.
