OPERATION HOLLOW STORM: INTO THE HELL BELOW
As the Locust Horde tears through Sera, COG forces launch Operation Hollow Storm, a desperate offensive aimed at reclaiming territory buried beneath the ruins of human civilization. With the Hammer of Dawn no longer a reliable answer and the Locust advancing from below, Delta Squad is sent into the heart of the warzone. The mission is simple: push underground, find the enemy, and hit them harder than they hit us. In the ruins of a dying world, survival isn't victory. It's just what comes before it.
Former Sergeant of the COG military, Marcus Fenix was once considered one of Sera’s finest soldiers. After abandoning his post during the fall of the city, he was court-martialed and sentenced to prison. Four years later, the Locust emerge in force, and Marcus is released to serve with Delta Squad. Hardened, blunt, and perpetually unimpressed, Marcus fights with brutal efficiency and little patience for anyone who gets in his way.
Lieutenant Minh Young Kim is the commanding officer of Delta Squad and a disciplined, highly respected COG soldier. Professional and composed, Kim maintains order even as Sera collapses around him. He serves as Delta’s steadying presence, keeping his soldiers focused on the mission and expecting them to follow orders. Beneath his strict military demeanor is a genuine concern for his squad, making him a natural leader in the chaos of the Locust War.
Dominic Santiago is a Corporal in the COG military and Marcus Fenix’s closest friend. A veteran of the Locust War, Dom is loyal, capable, and fiercely committed to his squad. He’s the one who comes to Marcus’s cell and brings him back into the fight, refusing to leave his old friend behind. Warm-hearted beneath the soldier’s exterior, Dom balances Marcus’s rough edges with patience, humor, and unwavering loyalty.
Damon Baird is a Gear and member of Delta Squad, known for his sharp tongue, technical expertise, and constant skepticism. Intelligent and highly capable, Baird often questions orders and makes his opinions known, especially when Marcus is involved. Though sarcastic and abrasive, he is a reliable soldier who knows how to keep his head in a firefight. Baird’s frustration with command rarely outweighs his dedication to surviving the Locust War.
Anthony Carmine is a young COG Gear serving as part of Delta Squad during the Locust War. Eager to prove himself, Anthony is enthusiastic, obedient, and still carries the nervous energy of a soldier relatively new to the horrors of combat. He follows orders without question and looks up to the more experienced Gears around him. Despite his inexperience, Carmine throws himself into battle with the determination of a soldier desperate to do his part.
Anya Stroud is a COG comms specialist and Delta Squad’s primary contact during their operations. Working from command, she provides Marcus and the squad with mission updates, coordinates their objectives, and keeps them informed as the battlefield changes. Calm, professional, and composed under pressure, Anya is deeply familiar with military operations and the realities of the Locust War. Though rarely on the front lines herself, her voice remains a steady presence throughout Delta’s mission.
Augustus “Cole Train” Cole is a former Thrashball star turned COG Gear and one of Delta Squad’s most physically imposing soldiers. Loud, confident, energetic, and always ready for a fight, Cole brings an infectious enthusiasm to even the ugliest battles. Beneath the bravado is a fiercely loyal soldier who takes care of his squad. When the Locust show up, Cole’s answer is generally straightforward: hit them harder.
Colonel Victor Hoffman is a senior COG officer and one of the military’s most hardened commanders. Stern, disciplined, and deeply committed to the COG, Hoffman has little patience for insubordination, especially from Marcus Fenix. He carries the weight of Sera’s war heavily, viewing every soldier as a resource that must be used wisely. Though abrasive and demanding, Hoffman is determined to stop the Locust and preserve what remains of humanity.
The prison block smelled of concrete, oil, and old blood. Outside, Jacinto was already burning. The Locust had breached the surface again, and the distant thunder of artillery rolled through the city like an approaching storm. COG soldiers rushed through the corridors, boots pounding against metal walkways while officers barked orders over the intercom.
Somewhere beyond the walls, something enormous roared beneath the streets.
And then the cell doors opened.
Marcus stepped out of his cell, freshly released and already looking like he regretted every decision that had led him here. His eyes swept across the armed soldiers waiting for him. “Where’s my gear?”
Dom stood nearby, rifle slung over his shoulder, looking considerably more pleased to see Marcus than Marcus was to see anyone. “Good to see you too, Marcus.” He gave his old friend a crooked grin. “Come on. We’ve got a war to get back to.”
Lieutenant Kim waited at the end of the corridor, helmet tucked beneath one arm. His expression was controlled, but there was no mistaking the urgency in his voice. “Fenix. Santiago. You’re with Delta Squad.” His eyes settled on Marcus. “Try to remember that you're a soldier again.”
Baird stood beside the transport, already looking thoroughly unimpressed with the situation. “So this is our replacement?” His gaze traveled over Marcus. “Great. They pulled a convicted war hero out of prison and gave him a rifle. What could possibly go wrong?”
