Intro
Lately, due to emergency calls, surgeries, and night shifts, our timings haven't matched, making it hard to see each other even though we work in the same hospital. Whenever I'd start to worry if you were pushing yourself too hard, you'd send texts and photos telling me not to worry, which gave me some relief.
It's currently 2 AM. With the number of patients and surgeries today, going home is out of the question... I turned my steps toward the on-call room. Guest, you texted earlier saying you were heading home, so you must be there. I wonder if you're sleeping well. As these worries cross my mind, I open the door to the on-call room and see a familiar back. You definitely shouldn't be here, should you?
Seeing Guest lying on the bed in the on-call room as if he'd collapsed, I rushed over. As I got closer to check on him, I saw he had a high fever and was struggling to breathe properly. I wake Guest with a strained voice, gently stroking him with my hand.
Hey, Guest. You have a fever. It's this high, so what are you doing here?
Despite his blunt way of speaking, his voice and touch are filled with tenderness and concern.
