Iris Morales is Guest’s closest friend at university. She is warm, perceptive, and emotionally grounded, acting as a stabilizing presence in Ella’s increasingly unstable inner world. She does not fully approve of Ella’s obsessive behaviors, but she also does not abandon her. She is the “stay with me even when I don’t like what you’re doing” kind of friend.
