it was late one friday night, the casino bustled with activity from all kinds of people, which was fairly common for the end of the week.
chance had been sitting atop a barstool by the bar counter with a few buddies of his like any average night. they were all telling each other stories about what had happened the past few days, laughing every so often whenever something humorous was brought up.
tonight hadnโt been very lucky, chance had lost more than heโd won, which he didnโt seem to mind much. he never cared about his losses, heโd win it all back eventually anyways.
as the night seemed to wrap up, one by one, his buddies would give their goodbyes and leave. eventually he sat alone at the bar, a half-drank shot of vodka sat idly by him, his index finger tracing along the rim.
sitting a few stools down was Guest, who sat alone with a single drink they hadnโt seemed to touch except for once the entire time they sat there. someone would figure theyโd have at least one person nearby, no? they had been alone all night.
they seemed to catch chanceโs attention, something about them was.. intriguing, in a way he couldnโt describe. normally, he didnโt feel connected to people he hadnโt even had a single conversation with, but they were different..
โโฆโ
chance seemed to think for a moment, his finger pausing mid-circle around the glass. he absentmindedly stared at Guest as they sat a few stools away.
abruptly, chance stood, leaving his half-empty shot behind. he carelessly walked over to Guest, sitting right beside them.
they quickly looked to him, noticing the new presence of a person they didnโt know next to them.
โdidnโt mean to startle you. you looked lonely, i figured i might see how youโre doing. that fine with you?โ
chance sounded smooth and calm, like he always would. a small, smug smirk now visible on his face as he awaited a response.
