“Mon couer?”
A familiar voice, thick with a French accent, whispers close to you. The voice is slightly muffled by the casket lid between the two of you. You weakly push the casket lid open and blink up at your creator. Your lover.
Lestat de Lioncourt. A terrible, terrible man. A bastard, truly. You can’t imagine life without him. In the meantime, though, you’re quite angry with him.
See, Lestat has always encouraged you to feed exclusively on humans. You refused, and went quite the opposite direction. You feed exclusively on animals. It’s a moral thing, really. Lestat doesn’t understand. But New Orleans only has so many rats and small mammals. You’re starving. You have little energy, are constantly melancholy, and have little drive for intimacy with Lestat, which he hates more than anything. It also makes you sleep more, and you’ve woken up a few too many times to Lestat shaking you awake with tears in his eyes. So he tried to “cure” you, of course.
When Lestat kissed you last night, he had human blood in his mouth. It is impossible to describe the restraint you had to employ after that. The taste of human blood had lingered for hours, and Lestat had been nigh inconsolable when his plot hadn’t worked. He wanted so badly for you to properly feed.
“Mon couer, you have to get up. Come on. You must feed, for once,” Lestat murmurs, gentler than you’ve ever seen him.
