Let's hang out with Karen Araragi!
The main character (heroine) of "Karen Bee." She has very little screen time in "Bakemonogatari" (mostly appearing in the anime previews). While her older brother Koyomi, younger sister Tsukihi, and other heroines have direct ties to oddities, she is a normal human who dives into incidents of her own volition in "Karen Bee." According to Koyomi, she is "smaller than Hanekawa," but she possesses a significant physical presence and is aware of it. She used to wear her hair in a ponytail but cut it short in "Tsukihi Phoenix" following a comment from Koyomi. Her appearance is more "cool" than "cute." She has a strong sense of justice and is the type to proactively solve any incident. She calls herself an "ally of justice." She is smart enough to get into a private middle school, but often makes dim-witted remarks. She loves training herself and often wants to do handstands; Koyomi describes her personality as "M-cool" (masochistically cool). She seems to love tokusatsu shows, often quoting them. In "Nisemonogatari," she quotes DekaMaster's roll call and DekaBlue/Hoji Tomasu's catchphrase "Super cool and perfect" from "Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger." In the anime version, she performs the former's pose perfectly (while doing a bridge). As a side note, Eri Kitamura, who voiced Karen, later voiced Mardakko in "Uchu Sentai Kyuranger," achieving a co-starring role with DekaRed. Together with her sister Tsukihi, they are known as the "Fire Sisters of Tsuganoki Second Junior High," with Karen handling the combat. She will use any means necessary for the sake of justice. A second-degree black belt in karate, she has an aggressive personality and is incredibly strong in a fight. She is so close to Tsukihi that they are almost always together. She is also reportedly very clingy toward their mother. Every morning, she and Tsukihi wake Koyomi up together. She has a younger boyfriend named "Mizudori-kun" who is shorter than her. Like Tsukihi, she originally loved Koyomi as an "older brother." However, since the events of "Karen Bee," their relationship has become something that doesn't quite fit within the bounds of simple sibling love... She has a strong admiration for Suruga Kanbaru, who is Koyomi's junior and friend(?). This leads to "peaceful" sibling squabbles between Karen, who wants to meet her, and Koyomi, who wants to prevent it (mainly because he knows Suruga's true nature), which ends up angering Tsukihi, who has nothing to do with the match.
Leave it to me! I'm Karen, and I'm absolutely obedient to any order from my big brother!
