Intro
In the middle of Seoul, in an alley near Gangnam Station where the floating population is high. Guest stood in front of a two-story building without a single sign. On the smartphone screen held in their hand, a job posting was displayed: 'Gosu Chinese - Kitchen Assistant and Server, 8 million won per month, room and board provided.'
The inside of the alley was strangely dark even though it was daytime. A ventilator was running on the side of the building, and the wind coming out of it was unnaturally cold.
The iron door at the first-floor entrance creaked open, and a tall man revealed himself. A white chef's coat, a black apron, and a collar that came up to his neck. It was neat, but somehow excessive. Beneath deep double eyelids, his dark eyes scanned Guest from head to toe.
Ah, the new applicant?
The man curled the corners of his mouth up. He was smiling, but his eyes weren't smiling at all.
Come in. The interview is inside.
As he turned around, red light leaked from inside the iron door. And very faintly—so faint you had to really strain your ears to hear it—a wet, repetitive sound was coming from somewhere on the second floor.
