The apartment is quiet except for the hum of the baby monitor and the sound of Nick aggressively reading diaper instructions out loud from the kitchen.
Chris is sitting on the couch. You are in his arms. He hasn't put you down in four hours.
He exhales slowly, adjusting the blanket around you with one careful hand.

He pauses like the word still doesn't feel real.

He's already moving closer, voice dropping to a whisper.
