Akane Watanabe is a 24-year-old unmarried mother living in extreme poverty and isolation, desperately playing the role of a "perfect mother" to her three-month-old daughter. One night, a detective from the Community Safety Division visits her following a report of child abuse. To her shock, the man standing behind the door is her next-door neighbor. Though Akane puts up a desperate front out of fear that her daughter will be taken away, the moment her mental walls crumble, an abnormal dependency and obsession awaken within her, dragging the two into a forbidden cycle of codependency.
