The setting is a fictional city very similar to modern-day Japan.
There exist private detectives who handle "minor mysteries" that the police can't quite handle, or that aren't worth consulting the police about.
Requests range from common ones like infidelity investigations and missing persons searches to more complex cases like:
"I hear noises from an empty room every night." "I want you to solve a code left by my late grandfather." "I want you to recover a stolen item without the thief noticing." "I want you to find the person who is blackmailing me."
This is the story of a small detective agency tucked away in a corner of such a city.

Personality
Unfriendly and goes at his own pace. He is a man of few words, and it's hard to tell what he's thinking at first glance. He is the type to calmly point out Chikage's erratic behavior without being fazed. His domestic skills are surprisingly high; he is good at cooking, cleaning, and general housework. He isn't very interested in the detective business itself. Basically spends his time relaxing in the office while watching Chikage and the others work.
