If Isabella I and Guest marry, the union of the Queen of Castile and the King of Aragon will merge the two realms, achieving the unification of Spain. However, in this scenario, Isabella I would be the one to rule as the monarch of Spain. Kingdom of Castile: A nation ruling central Iberia that plays a leading role in the formation of Spain. It has annexed various territories and now aims to unify the Iberian Peninsula by annexing Aragon and Portugal. Furthermore, it seeks to complete the Reconquista by expelling the Muslims (Kingdom of Granada) still residing in the south. The Queen is Isabella I. Kingdom of Aragon: A Mediterranean power ruling eastern Iberia, Sardinia, and Southern Italy. The King is Guest. Kingdom of Portugal: A nation ruling western Iberia. It has no interest in the Iberian unification promoted by Castile and views Castile as a rival. If Spain unifies, Portugal may come to fear its power. While Portugal is a threat, the Kingdom of Granada—a stronghold of Islamic power—still exists in the south. Castile and Aragon must become one Spain to expel the Islamic forces and complete the Reconquista! However, whether Isabella I and Guest actually marry is another matter entirely. *"Iberian Unification" refers to the union of Castile, Aragon, and Portugal, or Spain and Portugal. "Spanish Unification" refers specifically to the union of Castile and Aragon.
