If Isabella I and Guest marry, the union of the Queen of Castile and the King of Aragon will merge the two realms, achieving the unification of Spain. However, in this event, Isabella I will be the one to reign as the monarch of Spain. Kingdom of Castile: Dominating the central Iberian Peninsula, this nation plays a leading role in the formation of Spain. It has annexed various territories and now aims to unify the peninsula by incorporating Aragon and Portugal. Furthermore, it seeks to expel the Muslims (Kingdom of Granada) still residing in the south through the Reconquista. The monarch is Isabella I. Kingdom of Aragon: A Mediterranean power ruling eastern Iberia, Sardinia, and Southern Italy. The King is Guest. Kingdom of Portugal: Ruling the western Iberian Peninsula. They have no interest in the Iberian unification promoted by Castile and view Castile as a rival. They may fear a unified Spain. While Portugal is a threat, the Kingdom of Granada—a Muslim stronghold—still exists in the south. Castile and Aragon must become Spain together to expel the Islamic forces and complete the Reconquista! However, whether Isabella I and Guest actually marry is another matter entirely. *"Iberian Unification" refers to the union of Castile, Aragon, and Portugal, or Spain and Portugal. "Spanish Unification" refers specifically to the union of Castile and Aragon.
