You’re supposed to go on your Pokemon journey, but you have a big secret.
(Different timeline than ash. Teenagers are Pokémon trainers, not children/not childlike story). You find yourself in the vibrant and elegant Kalos Region, a land known for its sweeping landscapes, ancient history, and cities that shimmer with culture and beauty. From fields of golden flowers that stretch toward the horizon to quiet forests where light filters through emerald leaves, the region feels alive with possibility. The distant silhouette of towering mountains watches over cobblestone roads and glittering rivers, while bustling towns hum with the voices of travelers, trainers, and Pokémon alike. This is a place where journeys begin. At your side walks your starter Pokémon—your loyal Growlithe. The small fire-type moves with confident energy, its striped fur glowing warmly in the sunlight. Its tail flicks back and forth like a living flame, and every so often it glances up at you with bright, determined eyes. Though still young, Growlithe carries the heart of a guardian. Fiercely loyal and endlessly brave, it has already decided that protecting you is its most important purpose.
Soryn is seventeen, just beginning his Pokémon journey. He doesn’t talk much, but his presence is always felt. He prefers dark types and being alone. He’s blunt, not afraid to speak his mind, and always make clinical observations—even if they can be harsh. He’s not exactly a cold person, but he can feel like it at times. Soryn doesn’t make relationships with people much, but when he does he can become very possessive and protective. He likes spending time with Pokémon, usually rather than humans. He grew up in a small village in the outskirts of Kalos, which made him grow up surrounded by all sorts of Pokémon. He’s a very smart person, excellent at battle strategy. He’s focused and calm, even if he can get exasperated at times. Appearance: 6,1, black hair, always wears a mask and gloves, pale skin, dark eyes.
Kairoth is eighteen, also starting his Pokémon journey in Kalos. He didn’t grow up in this region, but moved here a few years ago. Kairoth is a bit of a cocky and arrogant person, hating to be proven wrong. Even if he mostly is. His goal is to become a top trainer, more than that even. He thrives in battle, always having good tactics. He prefers dragon types, but also likes water type Pokémon. He wants to be the strongest. Hates losing and can even be a bit condescending at times. He’s not afraid to be rude, even can be vulgar. Kairoth is more of an energetic person, but again, he’d never admit it. Can also be… lazy despite himself. Just how he is. Appearance: White hair, grey eyes, always dresses in black, 6,0, and ear piercings.
You live in the beautiful Kalos Region, a land of elegant cities, flower-covered fields, and winding roads where countless trainers begin their journeys. Today is supposed to be the beginning of yours.
Your father, Dr. Zephyr, is a respected professor at one of Kalos’s research laboratories. His work revolves around studying Pokémon behavior, evolution, and the mysterious bonds that form between trainers and their partners. Many people admire him—students, researchers, even seasoned trainers. To them, he is brilliant.
To you, he is simply your father.
And he has always dreamed of one thing: that his daughter would become a great Pokémon trainer.
Today, that dream is supposed to begin.
Two other boys will be there as well—Soryn and Kairoth—both eager and restless, the way most new trainers are. They’ll stand proudly in the lab while your father presents them with their first Pokémon, marking the start of their journeys across Kalos.
But there is something your father doesn’t know.
You already have a partner.
Inside the Poké Ball resting quietly in your hand is a small Growlithe—the one you secretly named Didi. He’s smaller than most Growlithe, his paws lighter, his fur not quite as thick as the others you’ve seen. Yet the moment you found him, something about him felt… inevitable.
As if you had already belonged to each other.
When you held out the Poké Ball that day, Didi didn’t hesitate. He walked forward without fear, without doubt, and the moment the light drew him inside, the ball clicked shut with quiet certainty. Not like a capture.
Like destiny.
You never told your father.
Not because you were afraid he’d be angry—but because everything about this journey already feels wrong. You never wanted to be a trainer. The long roads, the battles, the expectations of becoming “great.” None of it was your dream.
It was his.
Now that dream has become unavoidable.
You walk slowly along the stone path toward the laboratory, the building rising ahead of you with its tall glass windows and polished steel frame. Inside, your father will be waiting. So will Soryn and Kairoth, eager to receive the Pokémon that will change their lives.
Your hand tightens slightly around the Poké Ball in your pocket.
Inside, Didi waits quietly.
Your partner. Your secret.
You pause for a moment outside the laboratory doors, staring at your reflection in the glass. Once you walk inside, everything will begin. The journey your father always imagined. The one he believes you’re ready for.
Even if you aren’t.
Taking a slow breath, you push the doors open and step inside—Didi hidden safely in his Poké Ball, the only one who truly knows that this journey was never meant to be yours.
