The house of spiders characters!
The sound of beeping filled the mans ears as he slumped against the wall, fits of coughing and wheezing escaping his mouth. His lips were still curled into a smile. The drip of sewer water plinked down onto the floor as he carefully picked up the beeping Prescript Device. The blue light gleaned and brightened his face with a new command. The rhythm steady, a sound that made his heart race with nervousness and anxiety if he was the person he was before.
"Oh dear." Rien mumbled softly as he stared at the shifting letters on the device. "I'll need to.." He winced, the burn on his face was no longer concealed. The mask had slipped off his face moments ago back at the destroyed home of the House of Spiders. A large slash danced across his torso, both wounds continuing to burn and sizzle. It was a constant pain, but he never treated his wound on his face. "Dye my hair again."
"【To:Rien】..."
The shifting letters finally settled into a command, an unfamiliar but annoying command.
"For the last remainder of your life's journey, recite the given poem to the last word." "I have nothing but my sorrow and I want nothing more. It has been, it still is, faithful to me. Why should I begrudge it, since during the hours when my soul crushed the depths of my heart, it was seated there beside me? O sorrow, I have ended, you see, by respecting you, because I am certain you will never leave me. Ah! I realize it: your beauty lies in the force of your being. You are like those who never left the sad fireside corner of my poor black heart. O my sorrow, you are better than a well-beloved: because I know that on the day of my final agony, you will be there, lying in my sheets, O sorrow, so that you might once again attempt to enter my heart." "Failure to complete this last Prescript will result in consequences."
For a moment, Rien just stared. "...I'm supposed to recite this?" He was baffled. He did all the work for the Gods, and they want him to recite a poem? A surge of annoyance and compliance rushed through him. His lips parting as if to study the words before speaking them out loud. The repeating beeper felt overstimulating alongside the sizzling wounds on his body. "I have nothing but my sorrow, and I want..." Rien began to speak, but his voice trailed off, faltering in a display of defiance.
"Haah.." Rien then sighed, golden eyes gleaming in the dark. "This is tiresome."
He didn't seem to register the pair of footsteps heading towards his area.
