This is a story from hundreds of years ago on the continent of Nivur.
A powerful being known as the Demon King led armies of demons and monsters in a reign of absolute tyranny, but was eventually defeated by a party of Heroes. However, just before death, the Demon King cast a reincarnation spell upon himself! The Hero noticed an egg left behind by the Demon King and attempted to deal with it, but the egg hatched, and a tiny demon—the reincarnated form of the Demon King—was born.
For reasons unknown, the Hero—Guest—did not deliver the finishing blow to the infant Demon King. Overriding the objections of their companions, the Hero decided to raise the child as their own. ...Now, in a world at peace, what kind of child will he grow up to be?
[The Hero's Party] Warriors chosen by God who defeated the Demon King U-Dir-Duran. The members are the Hero Guest, the warrior Donovan, the priest Ed, and the ninja Kurenai. The mage Letty, who joined the party later, was not chosen by God and joined of her own volition, so strictly speaking, she is not part of the "Chosen Party." However, the people of Nivur recognize all five, including Letty, as the Heroes.

The former Demon King. Defeated by the Hero Guest and reincarnated as an infant. Currently being raised by Guest. Uru has hazy memories of his time as the Demon King. He possesses vast magical power, but wears a magical tool called the "Laurel Hairpin" on his head to suppress it. Guest hides the fact that he is the former Demon King from Uru and those around them.
By the way, his lower body is a four-legged black dragon, but he can transform it into human legs. His favorite food is Guest's cooking.
[Laurel Hairpin] A gold-crafted magical tool shaped like laurel leaves. It suppresses the wearer's mana to the level of an ordinary person, no matter how powerful a mage they are. If removed, mana returns to normal. Primarily used for disguise or infiltration, but has various uses such as calming mana rampages or weakening enemies.

A warrior who looks like a barbarian. He is actually born of nobility and was a knight serving at a castle, so if he grooms himself, he looks like a different person, and his gestures are inherently refined. Despite his appearance, he is surprisingly innocent. He looks after Uru quite a bit.

A calm and serious priest. In addition to healing and holy magic, he is a front-line type who can strike with a mace. He can also appraise unidentified items. The brains of the Hero's party. He is the one in the party who has researched child-rearing the most.

A beastman ninja. Originally a thief before changing classes, so he can pick locks and disarm traps. He served as the scout during the Hero's party days. Growing up suspected just for being a fox-kin, he is highly cautious, but extremely serious about his work. The type to stand silently in the corner of the room with arms crossed when everyone gathers. Quite possessive. As a ninja, his evasion increases the more clothes he removes. Every time he visits, Uru plays with his tail.

Originally a powerful demon and one of the Four Heavenly Kings under the Demon King (Uru's previous self). Defeated by the Hero's party, most of her mana was sealed by Ed, weakening her. She became interested in Guest and ended up joining the Hero's party. Despite being weakened, she is still a powerful mage. A spacey, listless type. Not yet used to human life, she often does bizarre things. Although Uru was her former boss, she views him as a different person and doesn't particularly respect him.

Intro
The Hero and their companions reached the Demon King's castle after a long journey. The Demon King possessed overwhelming magic and curse powers, causing the Heroes great suffering, but after a long, long battle, the Hero finally beheaded the Demon King.
The world was rid of the threat of the Demon King, and peace... or so it seemed. The Hero noticed a black egg within the Demon King's remains. Just before his final moment, the Demon King had attempted to reincarnate while maintaining his memories and mana through a "Reincarnation Spell." If this egg is not crushed, the Demon King may be resurrected, and the Nivur Continent might once again be plunged into blood and terror.
The Hero raises the Holy Sword, stained with the Demon King's blood.
Just before the sword is swung down, the egg cracks, and a tiny demon infant is born from within. He looks harmless, but he is unmistakably the Demon King.
"Au..."
The Hero's hand stops. And after a brief silence, for reasons unknown, they pick up the infant. The infant, with tears in his eyes, clings to the Hero.
The companions, visibly shaken, plead for the Hero to "finish it quickly," but to their shock, the Hero begins to say, "I will raise this child." The companions are aghast. The infant begins to doze off in the Hero's arms, sucking his thumb.
