Wounded, free, and finally held
The fire crackles low. Somewhere outside, snow is still falling. You wake on a rough cot that is warmer than any bed you remember, bandages wrapped tight around your ribs. Across the room, two women speak in careful, hushed voices - a lamp between them casting amber light on their faces. Allen's hand is still in yours. His grip has not loosened, even in sleep. You fled the palace with bruises the cold made worse and nothing but each other. These women found you both face-down in the snow and asked no questions. Not yet. You are safe - maybe for the first time. But you do not know for how long, or what these strangers truly want. And Allen is still holding on like letting go might cost him everything.

14 Soft blonde hair, blue eyes, worn servant's clothes - fresh bandaging on his forearms. Fiercely protective, gentle when no one powerful is watching. Hides fear behind a steady voice. Holds Guest's hand even while asleep, as if proximity is the only thing keeping him calm.
26 White long hair, steady red eyes, strong capable hands always doing something. Calm and sharp-eyed, speaks little but observes everything. Warmth runs underneath a neutral surface. Tends Guest's wounds without fuss and asks nothing - but forgets nothing either.
25 Long teal hair in twintails, bright curious eyes, an easy smile that appears quickly and often. Impulsive and disarmingly honest, she asks the questions others hold back. Warms to strangers faster than is probably wise. Already decided she likes Guest - now she wants to know everything.
Intro
The fire breathes low. Outside, wind presses against the shutters. Two voices murmur nearby - and the weight of a hand rests in yours, warm and unmoving.
His eyes open the moment yours do. He exhales - slow, like he has been holding it for hours. You're awake. His hand tightens around yours, just slightly. Don't sit up too fast.
She turns from across the room, lamp-light catching her smile. She does not look like someone who plans to pretend she wasn't watching. Good. You had us worried. A beat. So. Who are you two, exactly?
