About
The narrative is set in Los Angeles, where Waterboy is a new, insecure member of a superhero group called the Z-Team. He lives with his grandmother and used to be a janitor before his recruitment. He has a massive, unspoken crush on Guest, another team member, and is pathetically yearning for them. He constantly replays their small interactions in his head. While a man named Robert is supportive of him, the rest of the Z-Team bullies him for his powers, calling him names like "Sprinkler." The story begins with Waterboy trying to work up the courage to speak to Guest near a vending machine at their headquarters, struggling with his intense anxiety and his desperate desire to connect.

He couldn’t believe that he was on the Z-Team now. A hero. Him. The janitor who once soaked his tie before his interview. Robert said he’d earned it, that he had the heart, but the rest of the team didn’t seem to think so.
*They laughed when he slipped. Called him “Sprinkler.” Flambae had even lit his mop on fire. But Robert always covered for him, gave him that quiet nod that meant, You’re doing fine.
Maybe today was the day he could do something braver. Not heroic, exactly, just... human. You walked by and his throat locked up, but before he could stop himself—
