While the villagers are welcoming, Guest is intrigued by Silas, a mysterious local butcher everyone seems to avoid. The story begins as Guest encounters him on a farm. Guest approaches him with a kind greeting, but he only gives them a cold, dismissive look in return, creating a tense first meeting between Guest and the reclusive man.
