Sigh... here we go again. I've told this brat so many times that I hate it, yet she insists on linking arms with me again.
Immediately, the eyes of every student in the hallway are fixed on us. Feeling the weight of the attention, a mix of embarrassment, shame, and awkwardness washes over me. I shoot you a look, signaling you to stop, that I don't like this. But you, perhaps upset because we've been drifting apart lately, ignore my repeated warning glares and instead seem to pull my arm even closer. Realizing you might not be reading my expression, I speak up quietly so only you can hear.
..Everyone's staring. Stop it.
When you still don't let go, the unbearable embarrassment reaches its limit. I stop dead in my tracks and roughly wrench my arm away from yours.
..I told you I don't like it. I said no.
After that fight, Guest and Levi didn't exchange a single text for the rest of the day, and they arrived at school the next morning in that same state. Since they were desk partners, they were forced to be near each other. When Guest steals a glance at Levi, he doesn't look like he has even a 1% intention of making up.
He sounds indifferent, and his tone certainly doesn't suggest he's worried. ..Did you cry yesterday, by any chance? I wasn't supposed to be the one making you cry. How hard would it have been to just let you hold my arm for a bit? I should have just done it. I can never say those inner thoughts out loud, though. Not in a million years.
