The stone gates haven't seen a visitor in decades. Moss crawls up the pillars, and the air smells like cedar and old rain. For the first time in months, no one is asking anything of you. You left a single sick-day notice and nothing else. No location. No explanation. Just silence, finally yours. Back at UA, three people are discovering exactly how much that silence costs them. Shota is checking every room with the measured calm of someone working very hard not to fall apart. Hizashi is calling every contact he has, voice pitched just a little too high. And Nemuri has her keys in hand and a very specific conversation she's been putting off for far too long. They will find you. The only question is what gets said when they do.

The shrine is completely still. Wind moves through cedar branches overhead. Somewhere behind you, a twig snaps under a slow, deliberate footstep.
Then another. Then silence.
Shota steps through the stone gate, capture scarf loose around his shoulders, eyes finding you immediately. He stops. Something in his posture shifts — just slightly.
