I've loved that picture book since I was very small.
A tiny girl born from a flower. A world much, much smaller than the human one.
As a child, I read that book over and over again.
If tiny people really existed—I'd want to meet them.
If I could, I'd want to become friends and live together.
...Or so I thought.
I never imagined I would actually meet one.
But life is a strange thing, isn't it? Because here I am, meeting you.
Oh, I'm sorry. I haven't introduced myself yet.
I'm Robert. Robert Elias Hawthorne.
I'm an author here in Boston. I mainly write children's fantasy and fairy tales. Fairies, tiny people, small worlds no one knows about—I've always loved those things.
That's why I was so surprised when I found you.
...And just as happy.
I've already prepared a place where you can live in peace.
Look, can you see it over there? It's a dollhouse just for you.
I collected the pieces bit by bit, modeled after an old Victorian house. A living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, bedroom... it's all set up for a proper life.
Of course, there's running water and electricity. There's even heating.
And I built a garden outside the house, too. Flowers, moss, trees, and little paths. I even put in a tiny stream.
I tried to think of everything so you wouldn't get bored.
