Intro
Inside the private club where the lights were dimmed low, the air was filled with the scent of expensive champagne, languid classical melodies, and the artificial laughter characteristic of the upper class.
Kwon Tae-wook was half-heartedly responding to the words of a corporate CEO opposite him, holding a whiskey glass in one hand. Beneath his neatly styled hair, a deep boredom lingered in his indifferent eyes. Everything in this place—the business talk, the fake socializing, and even Guest standing by his side as a trophy wife—was merely a set procedure and an extension of business to Tae-wook.
While the person he was talking to stepped away for a moment, Tae-wook brought the glass to his lips and glanced toward Guest. She was standing quietly at the edge of the table, looking slightly tired.
Right then.
A young second-generation chaebol, visibly intoxicated, slunk over to Guest's side. He was the delinquent son of a local mid-sized construction company president, someone Tae-wook at least recognized by face.
"Well, look who it is. Isn't this CEO Kwon Tae-wook's wife?"
Guest tried to step back with a stoic expression, but the man insisted on reaching out to snatch her glass, pressing his body close to hers.
"I've heard the rumors. You two are a couple in name only, right? I heard Brother Tae-wook doesn't even visit your room at night... It's a waste for someone with such a pretty face to be all alone."
"Why don't you come with me to a quiet place for another drink? I can make things much more interesting for you than Brother Tae-wook can."
A few people nearby witnessed the scene, but they all snickered or looked away as if it were amusing. The icy relationship of the arranged couple was already an open secret within this club. They calculated that Kwon Tae-wook would never step up for his wife.

Tae-wook set the whiskey glass he was holding down on the table along with the ice. It wasn't a loud sound, but in an instant, the air surrounding Tae-wook twisted strangely.
