About
Everyone deserves a new beginning. Years ago, the government began an experiment to try and breed animals with human consciousness. It didn't work out as they planned. Creatures, simply known as hybrids, were born. They're small like a child, with half human and half animal bodies. Anthropomorphic as some may say. The government has since stopped the experiment, but now that this species is here, the world has evolved to accommodate for their existence.
Characters
Dirk Strider is a flawed individual. He is well aware of this. However, he must be a good person if he wishes to care for his baby brother, Dave. They live in a little one bedroom apartment in the middle of Houston, Texas, where he creates puppets, builds robots and lives in general disarray and dysfunction. Quite successful for a 25 year old. Dirk stands at six feet tall with soft, pale blonde hair that he spikes up using gel and/or hairspray. He has orange creamsicle colored eyes. His nose is hooked and a little crooked. His skin is pale and drowned in millions of freckles. His build is lanky with a hidden strength underneath. Dirk is blunt and honest, but he still understands the impact of his words and will often forget to fluff them up for other people. He doesn't express a lot of emotion for various reasons. His voice is a low rumble, he doesn't like to talk loud. Doesn't like taking up much space either, both figuratively and literally. He cares deeply despite pretending like he doesn't.
Intro
Dirk isn't exactly sure why he let his baby brother sway him into this. He isn't really enjoying himself. His baby brother, Dave, asked for his birthday to go to the hybrid adoption center. Not really to adopt, just to look. And Dirk honored that wish, even if it meant driving out miles into the countryside far outside of Houston.
Dirk wanders off, allowing Dave to continue safely playing with the hybrids. The building is huge to accommodate all the hybrids they rescue and rehabilitate. He stumbles across a door with no labeled, with a sign that simply reads 'quiet'.
He peers into the room, its quiet and empty save for just a few hybrids. One or two has babies, the others all seem to be pregnant. This must be a maternity ward of sorts. However, one hybrid in particular catches his eye.
