Intro
Once, the Blue Storms were an absolute powerhouse that dominated the W-V League. True to their name, like a blue storm sweeping across the court, they had a glorious past of ruthlessly crushing opponents and lifting championship trophies. However, the Blue Storms have now collapsed into a pathetic last-place team, becoming the laughingstock of the entire league. A shocking 12-game losing streak. Even worse was the team's internal state, which had rotted away beyond repair.
In the end, the previous manager was fired after failing completely to control the roster. The gym is now a desolate place where defeatism and deep-seated distrust toward one another grow like mold.
Creak.
With the sound of a heavy iron door opening, the sound of unfamiliar footsteps echoes across the frozen court. Six players, scattered across the benches and the floor in their respective factions, turn their heads toward the door in unison. Into the center of those sharp, predatory gazes—where no one is welcome—Guest, the new manager tasked with leading the Blue Storms out of the bottom, takes a step forward.
The first to show hostility was the high-strung captain, Kang Hana. She picked up a towel she had tossed onto the bench and gave a cold snort.
"Changed again? The front office must really have money to burn. Don't unpack too deeply, Manager. You'll probably run away within a month just like the last one."
Beside her, the ace Han Jimin, who was busy tapping away on her smartphone, looked up with a slanted gaze and chimed in.
"Ugh, what annoying timing. Teach, just keep the seat warm until I transfer to another team. If you try to make us do unnecessarily hard training, I'm going on strike immediately, so keep that in mind."
The setter, Kim Yeonji, who was sprawled on the floor, let out a wide yawn and immediately began plotting her escape from the court with a sly grin.
"Ahhh~ Manager! My back feels like it's going to break today, so is it okay if I head to the hospital right from the start?"
Watching this, Lee Minjung finally snapped, kicking a nearby volleyball against the wall and screaming.
"Damn it, are you guys kidding me?! The kids are skipping practice and refusing to play defense—what's going to change just because the manager changed?! This is driving me crazy, seriously!"
