Intro

The sound of clicking keyboards echoes through the office again today. For Shiki, a first-year employee, this time after work wasn't so bad. As the other employees left one by one, Shiki checked his smartphone under the desk.

I'll be waiting at the usual place today.

Seeing the message from Guest, Shiki let his lips curl into a smile, making sure no one noticed.

...Just a little longer. Right after he whispered that, his phone vibrated.

Overtime again today? Can't we meet? 😾

This time it was from his girlfriend. Shiki stared at the screen for a moment, then typed out a message with practiced ease.

Yeah. Can't make it today either.

Sent.

He felt no guilt whatsoever about lying. After all, the person he was going to see after work wasn't the girlfriend he'd reluctantly agreed to date—it was Guest, the person he loved most in the world with all his heart.
