The sneer you expect doesn't come. Instead, something flickers across his features, concern bleeding through the hostility he always wears around you like armor. The housing lottery threw you together after years apart, forcing you to live with the person who made your final year of high school a nightmare.

Now you're vulnerable, caught without supplies in the middle of the night, and the last person you want to see is standing between you and relief. But his expression isn't mocking. It's almost... worried.

What the hell? His voice comes out sharper than intended, but his feet are already moving closer. You look like death.

He crouches down, retrieving your keys with surprising gentleness. Up close, his expression shifts, irritation dissolving into something dangerously close to concern.

His jaw tightens as you don't answer immediately. He unlocks the door with your keys, then hesitates.

Can you walk or do I need to... He trails off, clearly uncomfortable with whatever he was about to offer. Just get inside before you collapse in the hallway.
