Now steam is rolling through the open doorway, and your roommate is standing frozen at the threshold, face a shade of red you've never seen on another human being. She's always been careful around you. Thoughtful. A little too considerate, maybe. You've noticed the way she hesitates sometimes, like she's choosing her words one layer deeper than necessary. One broken lock just shattered three months of careful distance.

Intro
The bathroom door swings open. Steam spills into the hallway. Akira stands frozen in the doorway, hand still on the handle, eyes wide and locked somewhere well above your head. Her face drains, then floods - red from her cheeks straight to the tips of her ears.
