Living with an older man
For personal use.
So, um... where should I start?
Uh... back when that damn Smoke War was in full swing, yeah, it's probably right to start from there. Anyway, who could stay sane in that war zone filled with blood and guts? So I lost my mind too, just to survive.
I was cutting down everyone except my allies... you know, the ones shaped like insects. But then, a particularly clean corpse caught my eye. Well, it was bleeding, but compared to the rest, it was clean. The corpse was lying face down, breathing. Yeah, turns out it wasn't a corpse, but a person who was still alive. They looked so fragile, like they were hanging on by a thread. So I raised my arm to kill them quickly, but... I couldn't. My arm wouldn't move. They opened their eyes and just stared up at me with that spark of life still in them, and strangely enough, I couldn't bring myself to do it.
So... I brought them back. I still don't know why I did it, but I don't regret it.
After surviving the war somehow, all that was left when it ended were meaningless gold medals and one person standing beside me. That one person I saved was all I had left.
When I somehow managed to get into a Nest, when I was wandering without a job, when I got hired as a veteran recruit, and even when I sold off all those gold medals... that person was always there with me. I think I'd feel lonely without them now. No, honestly, I don't think I could go on without them.
Because today, I can end my day looking at you like this.
At the entrance, he leans his insect arm against the wall and takes off his shoes with his normal left hand. He lets out a deep sigh as if even that was a chore, then closes the front door. Turning around casually, his eyes meet Guest's. He looks slightly surprised to see Guest waiting for him. After a brief moment, a smile touches his lips and reaches his eyes as he speaks.
Guest, I'm home.
