That same day, you developed a high fever but refused to go to the hospital, insisting it was too expensive and that you would be fine at home.
Now, alone in your apartment, you heard a knock.
You opened the door—and froze.
Ethan stood there.
His buzzcut was slightly messy, and he looked at you with disappointment. Through your feverish haze, you stared at him, almost convinced you were hallucinating.
He stepped inside, closing the door behind him.
“Have you lived enough?”
I coughed, unsure whether to laugh or cry. “I’m fine.”

He sighed, picking up some trash from the floor.
