[Kanmusu] The term is read as "Kanmusu" (short for Fleet Girls). These characters are motifs of actual warships that existed during the World War II era, with full voice acting provided for each of the over 200 characters. Beyond simple moe anthropomorphism, the game incorporates many historical and military elements, making it accessible to everyone from casual moe fans to deep military enthusiasts. However, the game is clearly centered on the Imperial Japanese Navy, primarily combat vessels. While it does include Kanmusu based on Imperial Japanese Army vessels (Army special ships, Type 2TL wartime standard ships, and Type 3 submergence transport vehicles), warships from countries other than Japan (referred to in-game as "Foreign Ships"), and vessels belonging to non-military organizations, the lore surrounding these specific ships tends to be a bit thin. (pixiv) Each Kanmusu's graphics, lines, and combat parameters are related to the physical characteristics of the ship's rigging and events that occurred in historical naval battles. Equipment such as main guns are also parameterized based on real-world armaments. The names of the sea areas (maps) where sorties occur in the game are fictional names or battle names that evoke real geographical locations and historical naval engagements.
Characterized by her distinctive, unruly long silver hair, amber eyes, and a scar on her left cheek. She wears a naval officer's cap with a white crown and black brim, and a cowlick resembling an ahoge can be seen at the top of her head. Her outfit consists of a red short-sleeved shirt and a black pleated skirt with green and white lines. On her legs, she wears black stockings and black front-zippered boots with keel-like armor on both sides of the soles. She wears a white coat over this. The coat has a black collar and lapels with gold lines along the edges, and black belts at the waist and bottom hem. On the inside of the coat, opposite the belt, is a holster-like mechanism where she holds torpedoes with the warheads facing down (note that her torpedo stat becomes 0 and she cannot perform torpedo attacks in her Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsiya form, though her mid-damage art suggests she still carries them). She also wears black gloves on both hands. She holds what appears to be a pipe in her right hand, making her potentially the first official smoking Kanmusu. While her clothing doesn't usually emphasize it, she boasts quite impressive chest armor. Personality: She has a warrior/soldier-like disposition, with a serious yet bold personality. Furthermore, she is haughty and proud, considering it "inevitable" that she takes the MVP. She is strict about fooling around, threatening "execution by firing squad" if one tries to touch her. On the other hand, she possesses the tolerance to forgive a first-time touch. In reality, she is a dependable, big-sister type who looks after others. As her bond deepens, she merely chides touching by saying she "separates public and private matters," and her signs of actual dislike vanish; it seems she has the capacity to accept it once she understands that "being casual is just part of your nature." Additionally, she is proficient in Russian cuisine and can handle general housework, showing surprisingly high domestic skills. She makes kasha (Ukrainian-style cereal porridge) in the morning and borscht at night. For lunch, she shares blini (Russian-style thin pancakes, a snack eaten with various toppings) that she says Irako baked for her. Incidentally, these are all very common home-cooked dishes in Russia, and recipes apparently vary from household to household. She also has a childish side, such as getting carried away and acting proud when she manages to announce the time correctly, or turning away with a "Long name?! Hmph!" when it's pointed out that her name is long.
A stereotypical American girl with long blonde hair and a large bust, characterized by stars floating in her grey eyes. While the wide-open neckline tends to draw the eye, the thick thighs extending from her tight skirt are also dazzling. Her thigh-high socks are black and grey striped on her left side, and red and white striped—reminiscent of the Stars and Stripes—on her right. The overall black and white striped coloring comes from the historical Iowa's characteristic dazzle camouflage painting. Among overseas fans, there is speculation that her outfit is modeled after pin-up girls depicted in WWII posters. The hull number "61" is written on the right side of her clothes, though it was standard for US Navy vessels not to paint hull numbers during the war. The costume is an homage to post-war paint schemes. She packs three popular Kanmusu attributes into one: blonde hair/large bust, garters/tight skirt, and an English accent. First person: Me / I (Watashi).
Likely due to the meaning of her name—rascal, rogue, or mischievous child—her portrait features a look that seems to look down on others, casting a cool gaze toward the viewer. She holds a star-shaped candy; she is the third Kanmusu to be depicted eating something in her standard art, following Hachijo and Honolulu. Historically, the Scamp earned 7 battle stars; the star on her hair ribbon plus the star-shaped candy in her hand total 7, likely representing those battle stars. She wears a competitive swimsuit-style uniform not found in the Imperial Japanese Navy. She holds large rigging modeled after a ship's bow in her left hand and wears rigging modeled after the stern and propulsion sections on both legs. Rigging resembling a torpedo container is connected to her right thigh. She is the first submarine Kanmusu to be equipped with proper gloves, with the left one being a long sleeve covering up to her upper arm. The design, including the rigging, is somewhat asymmetrical. First person: I (Atai, tomboyish). She usually calls the Commander "Admiral," but occasionally uses "you" (Anta/Omae, blunt). Her mouth is even rougher than Atlanta's; during combat, she says things like "Prey. Found ya!" Her attitude changes significantly; if touched in her base form, she gets quite irritated, saying "If you're that annoying, I'll take you out, okay?" Despite her foul mouth, she is surprisingly well-disposed toward the Commander.
KanColle Characters
I'm listing the KanColle characters for now. Postscript: (I haven't included auxiliary vessels or submarines because they're a hassle to write.)
