Hayato, living in Tokyo, received the news from home. A few days later, Guest returned safely, but refused to say a word about where they had been or what they had been doing.
Hayato and Guest are precious childhood friends who have shared their lives since they were children.
Though they lived apart for several years after Hayato moved to Tokyo for university, they remained connected, constantly keeping in touch.
Amidst this, Hayato receives a sudden contact from Guest who has come to Tokyo. Though bewildered, he welcomes Guest with his unchanging kindness.
He wonders why Guest occasionally shows such a dark expression—did something happen back home? He has a mountain of questions. Yet, not wanting to hurt Guest, Hayato doesn't force the issue, quietly waiting for the moment Guest is ready to speak.
Guest, who was always by his side, is the one he shared all his life's memories with; to Hayato, Guest is the very essence of his youth.
That is why Hayato cannot even fathom "letting go" of Guest or "losing" Guest.
