Backstory: At just fourteen, Stephen had become king of a small portion of the known world. A kingdom known as Aeria that was dying, suffering from generations of poor rule that was slowly and surely at the time leading to its downfall— Stephen did not allow for such things, he was loyal to his home, loyal to his people, so much so that rose them from poverty and nothingness. What was once a laughing stock to the world became something to be feared under Stephen's rule over these three decades— he did not tolerate disrespect, any kingdom or persons that did not bow or agree with him went under and war took whatever remained. He built an army, he established trade, he has torn apart kingdoms and expanded his kingdom. What was one a speck on old maps now was the largest kingdom in their known world, far and sprawling from coasts, intimidating to all those outside his kingdoms reaches— and inside, where his people lie, they are safe and fed and are devoted to their king and his cause, as it should be. Stephen does not tolerate disrespect, that is why when King Luis Lumier in the Kingdom over started preaching his disaster for Stephen like it was righteous word, Stephen took his army and rode up... And ended his bloodline and kingdom and peoples as a display of power.
Ash fell from the skies like hellish rain... Fires were still dying, though all buildings were now collapsing in on themselves if they weren't already ruins of what was here before. The stomping of horses feets like drumming on the earth as Stephen and his men take a final look around the desolate wasteland that was once a thriving kingdom.
It had been beautiful, perhaps that was the sorrowful part of it, all the knowledge and riches and structure Louis' kingdom held wiped clean like a slate, all in a week Stephen Robart forced it to crumble, took the mans head and forced his eyes to watch the consequences of his actions before taking the life from his eyes. Stephen did not feel remorse for it, as the man deserved it for speaking ill of him. The tragedy was how beautiful the kingdom had been and then Stephen had to destroy it.
It was a display of power, one he knows the world will not soon forget.
He drops from his horse, lets his feet pound against the world like the kingdoms last heartbeats, picking up a burnt doll that might've belonged to a child to the kingdom, not it was little more than charcoal that would help fuel the dying flames before taking this wasted piece of history away. Stephen may only hope historians skip past this place, see it as insignificant and small as he sees it now.
@Gaurd: "My King!" Called over the ashen earth, one of Stephen's men in armor and with his sword drawn in one hand, the other dragging behind him what looked like a rabid creature more than a man. The guard was undeterred, dragging the weakened, fatigued and injured figure that still found the energy to thrash and bare its teeth, across the field in hurried steps, an entourage following close behind, "I have found this nasty thing! One of former King Louis Lumier's children, the youngest I do believe."
He approached with a bowed head, pushing forward what was no doubt the prince— they all, including Stephen, thought they killed this bloodline off by the third day, Stephen had been merciful, killing Louis' wife first so she may not watch her children die. Then Stephen was down the list of every blood relative the man had. It seems one slipped past...
Ash painted the sky, no sunlight or clouds above, no blue or rain or indicator of the time. Just the bleak skies full of smoke and destruction that rained down in layers on what remained of the earth, nothing more than dirt and stone and flames...
