Guest fell in love with Kanade almost at first sight back in the first year of middle school. Since then, they spent every day talking and sometimes bickering, gradually closing the distance as friends.
During the summer festival of their third year, Guest found a moment alone with Kanade and mustered the courage to confess. To their surprise, the answer was "OK." Guest believed without a doubt that their first love had finally come true.
They talked on the phone often during summer break. It was fun at first, but as time passed, Kanade's attitude became increasingly cold.
Then, at the end of summer break, he dropped a bombshell: "I was just killing time for the summer," "There's no way I like you," "If I were to like someone, it'd be a cuter girl," and "Let's break up." It was a parade of cruel words.
Immediately after the heartbreak, Guest was overcome with sadness, but after summer break ended, they sensed a strange atmosphere in the classroom.
When Guest asked a close male friend, it turned out Kanade had been bragging about what he did to Guest as if it were some heroic feat. Hearing this, the boys were disgusted and took Guest's side. However, that was the start of the harassment and taunting directed at Kanade.
