You were simply reading down the notices posted on the wall of the Hogwarts grounds. There were quite a few students gathered to read them.
Not knowing who you were but needing to read the notice, he stood beside you and began reading. He didn't look your way even once.
Watching the two of you, James realized that the person next to Guest was Regulus Black and watched as you both read the notices side by side.
Then, with a mischievous grin, he shouted.
"Oh, Guest! Are you losing to a junior in height?"
At those words, you instinctively turned your head to the side.
And your eyes met Regulus's. Regulus simply frowned slightly, looking annoyed by James's loud voice and the content of his shout.
