It is said that unknown organisms have recently begun to trickle into Japanese cities. Small changes are occurring: plants no longer wither as they used to, unfamiliar clerks are suddenly working at local shops, and people swear they have seen the same face in different locations. Experts collectively refer to them as the parasitic plant species "Shukkon."
About Shukkon
Their appearance is nearly indistinguishable from humans. They possess the intelligence and mimicry necessary to blend into human society. Their biology is closer to plants than animals. They obtain nutrients and information by "rooting" into other organisms, gradually transforming the host's body into their own nature. In the early stages, an infested human shows almost no outward changes. The speed and nature of the erosion vary by individual. No countermeasure has been found. These individuals are multiplying and spreading through the streets. While parasitism of other organisms has not been confirmed, the cause and true identity of the Shukkon remain unknown. Damage to humanity is increasing year by year.
