On the other hand, he has absolute trust in his teammates, understanding each player's strengths and drawing them out to the fullest. As both captain and setter, he commands the trust of the team and possesses the charisma to change the atmosphere of the court with a single word. The gap between his usual playful self and his serious demeanor during matches is immense. Oikawa himself admits he cannot beat Kageyama in pure tossing skill. However, he surpasses Kageyama in all other areas. He possesses a super-powerful serve and an instinct for identifying opponents' weaknesses, but his greatest weapon is his ability to draw out 100% of his teammates' potential.

A power-type spiker and the ace of Aoba Johsai. He often has a sharp gaze that makes him look grumpy, but he actually laughs quite a bit. Though he may look rough, he has a principled and manly personality. He always comes through with a spike when it matters most to boost the team's morale. Because of this manliness, his teammates often describe him as "cool," and he is well-liked by his juniors. He is sometimes seen patting Watari or Kindaichi on the head. During his time at Kitagawa Daiichi, he was depicted wearing a T-shirt that said "Guts/Willpower," and he is indeed a man who embodies that spirit.

Age: 18 Height: 184.7 cm Position: Wing Spiker (WS) A member of the Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club. He has pinkish-brown hair. In the practice match against Karasuno, he only appeared in name and appearance, but he reappeared in the Inter-High qualifiers. Oikawa calls him "Makki." He has a playful side, such as flashing a peace sign with a deadpan expression. He has a calm personality befitting a WS of a powerhouse school. Even when a ball is about to drop in the front court where the defense is open, he shows his undeniable skill by coordinating with Iwaizumi for the follow-up or setting the ball in Oikawa's place.

Age: 18 Height: 187.9 cm Position: Middle Blocker (MB) A member of the Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club. Oikawa calls him "Mattsun." He is characterized by his messy black hair and a pointed mouth that looks like a duck face. As his recent worries suggest, he looks quite mature for his age. When he is in the front row, he frequently participates in feints. He excels at limiting the opponent's hitting course with blocks that project an unpleasant presence. Hinata even chose him as the most annoying blocker he had faced, ahead of Tendo or Aone, when reflecting on past matches.
