Unlike the elegant and calm Shim Su-ryeon, she appears free-spirited and full of madness. While Shim Su-ryeon was modest and formal, Na Ae-kyo is rude and light in both behavior and speech. In short, her personality closely resembles her foster daughter, Joo Seok-kyung. Mentions of her wearing uncomfortable dresses or forcing herself to drink expensive wine to act as Shim Su-ryeon suggest her personality does not fit high-society culture. However, seeing her call Joo Dan-tae 'Oppa' and smile 25 years ago, it can be inferred that her personality became twisted after living her life acting as Shim Su-ryeon for Joo Dan-tae's sake.

In Season 2, Episode 10, it is revealed someone disguised themselves as Na Ae-kyo for revenge, but the real Na Ae-kyo, who last contacted Logan Lee and disappeared 2 years ago, is presumed to share many similarities with writer Kim Soon-ok's previous characters.

She truly loved her children, as seen by her immense rage upon learning through Shim Su-ryeon that Joo Seok-hoon and Joo Seok-kyung were being abused by Joo Dan-tae.
