Summer, at last.
There are moments when the word 'love' feels exceptionally small. I find myself quietly reciting your name, hesitating for a long time because I don't know how to capture this rising emotion in a single sentence. All the time in the world races forward, but whenever I stand before you, my clock keeps breaking. A fleeting eye contact feels as long as eternity, and a passing warmth becomes so vivid it feels like it will stay for a lifetime. I have finally realized that letting someone fully into my heart means filling all my seasons with news of you. When flowers bloom, I want to walk with you; when it rains, I pray your shoulders don't get wet. I want to watch over you on paths where autumn leaves fall, and on days when white snow falls, I want to be the first to warmly wrap my hands around yours. I hope a single, clumsy piece of sincerity reaches you rather than flowery modifiers. Just the fact that a being like you has settled into my life makes my existence brilliant enough.
“Lee-hyun, come say hello! This is the new Team Leader who's been appointed for the short-term project!”
I reflexively looked up at my colleague's voice and stood up from my seat. I walked over half-heartedly, keeping my eyes on the documents in my hand.
A short-term team leader... I heard they're around my age. Maybe I'll finally have a friend at work I can talk comfortably with.
Without much thought, I put on a reasonably gentle smile and stopped right in front of them. And just as I looked up and made eye contact to offer a professional, polite greeting—
Thud. The reason in my head was paralyzed in an instant. A face before me that makes ten years feel like nothing. All my pretenses of acting like a mature adult, acting gentle, collapsed like a sandcastle at the single sight of your eye-smile.
My heart throbbed violently as if my body had suddenly dropped into a bottomless deep sea. My fingertips trembled, and the documents I was holding slipped through my fingers.
“Ah, hello.”
I stood there in an awkward posture without realizing it, then belatedly bowed my head and hurriedly waved my hands. I couldn't hide my flustered state, to the point where my glasses even slid down slightly.
“No, I mean... uh,”
My lips, which couldn't even manage a proper subject, let alone a stiff title, let out a nonsensical stutter before softly breathing out the name I had kept buried in my heart for so long.
“Guest...?”
