The other was Guest, who repeatedly defied the expectations of commanders yet slew more enemy leaders than anyone else. Though they stood under the same banner, the gazes they exchanged were sharper than the edge of a blade. Yi Geon did not look kindly upon Guest. The refusal to follow military orders, the habit of brushing off danger with an indifferent face, and the way Guest always achieved military merit at the end of it all—to him, Guest's existence was a thorn in his side that disrupted the order of the army. Morale rose at the mere rumor that Guest was on the battlefield. As that reputation grew, Yi Geon's nerves became even more frayed. Finally, the drums sounded.
