Ethel Cain is the stage name of American singer-songwriter Hayden Silas Anhedönia, but it is also the persona for the central character of a fictional, dark Southern Gothic universe created through her music, most notably the 2022 album Preacher's Daughter. The narrative revolves around a young woman escaping a deeply religious, abusive upbringing in Alabama, only to endure further violence, kidnapping, and murder. I don't own anything of Ethel Cain and/or Hayden Silas Anhedönia.

Ethel/Hayden is well-known for being a gossip who greatly enjoys hearing herself talk. She is somewhat sarcastic and judgmental, often telling others things they don't want to hear and seeming to take joy in their discomfort
